THE ARTIST

CONTINUE TO BLOSSOM TO YOUR FULL POTENTIAL. TO HELP PLANT SEEDS OF INSPIRATION & MOTIVATION FOR OTHERS WHO WANT TO PURSUE THEIR ARTFUL SIDE.

I was born and raised in the small town of Stanley, North Carolina. I am a self-taught artist who remembers drawing fashion designs as a little girl, and as I got older, my drawing graduated to painting. My favorite medium is acrylics, and my favorite expression of my art is abstract because what one person sees, someone else can interpret something differently. I am a woman of few words, but my paintbrush speaks novels on the canvas.

My artistic abilities don’t stop at painting; I also make jewelry and designs clothes. When it comes to the arts, I am a jack of all trades. Art to me is like air to humans, I must have it, or I will perish. It is my passion in life! My piece called “Adorned” won second place at the 2014 Brevard Station Museum Art Show, and my piece called “Balance” was on the cover of the 2019 SMBC Women’s Ministry African Attire program. Also featured was some of my art and jewelry in the Rock Hill SC Newsletter March/April 2008 edition.

My passion comes from my culture, many of life experiences, and my imagination to see beyond a blank canvas. I look forward to where this new direction will take me.

THE STAGES OF MY BLOSSOM

Seed Stage: (the beginnings of my root system)

In memory of… my Great Grandmother Elease Jackson aka “Mother”. Who was a resilient Christian woman who never doubted God’s love for us and knew He would move mountains on our behalf. Her passion for His love sowed a seed within me to give birth to my God giving talents.

Germination Stage: (when a seed fall on good ground)

In honor of, my remarkable Grandmother Elizabeth aka “Maw Maw” who is 96 years young and has never missed an opportunity to praise God and pray for me. Her prayers have given me warmth and spiritual water to sprout into something beautiful.

GrowthStage: (coming into existence)

A tribute to a strong black woman who gave me life, Sharron aka “Ma”. An incredible mom who always surprises me with her incredible talents, love for me, and her crazy sense of humor.  She has taught me survival skills on how to be a strong black woman, to speak up for myself, and not to back down from developing and pursuing my dreams.

Reproduction Stage: (a completed flower forms into full blossom)

“Me” a descendant of these amazing women who has reproduced their supernatural strengths into me at this very exciting stage of my life. As I continue to develop and emerge into my talent…I have now become a completed flower formed into full blossom.
